As we embark in 2007, we have so much to be thankful for. Last year we had the great opportunity to participate in “Venezuelan Sounds ‘06”, an amazing festival that is produced by the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington D.C. and brings talent in from Venezuela as well as the United States. The festival usually takes place on the East Coast, however this year it was extended to the West Coast as well. Sharing the bill with us on both coasts was the wonderful Venezuelan pianist Leo Blanco and his quartet. Venezuelan bassist Gonzalo Teppa also joined us for a performance at The San Francisco Jazz Festival. It was also a great pleasure, as part of our summer tour and Venezuelan Sounds ‘06, to perform at “CincyLatino”, one of the biggest Latino festivals that takes place in Cincinnati. Venezuelan Sounds continues to grow in the U.S. and we’re looking forward to “Venezuelan Sounds ‘07” which we hope will be the biggest yet. Production on our third album is almost complete. It has been a wonderful experience recording material with the trio and many special guests. Several of the songs include guest appearance by Venezuelan musicians, Aquiles Baez, Leo Blanco, Gonzalo Grau and Marco Granados. A Spring release date is in the works. Looking towards 2007 is very exciting. Aside from releasing our third CD, continuing our commitment to the development of arts education is very important to us. Working together with programs like A.I.M. (Adventures in Music) sponsored by the San Francisco Symphony as well as Middlebury College in Vermont and Stanford University, we have developed a curriculum that enables kids and adults to experience the rich diversity of our music. One last note. This year we've been extremely fortunate to have had the wonderful Venezuelan percussionist, Lali Mejia join us in many of our shows. Her expertise in Venezuelan music has enriched our performances tremendously and we hope to continue to collaborate with her. Finally, thanks to all of you for your ongoing support. Best wishes! Jackie, Donna and Saul
